About the World—Back and front pages together sew a worldview of art that honors all arts and makers of art equally.

Quilt is based on The Hobo-Dyer Map, an equal area projection of the world showing each country's actual area in true relationship to other countries. This is a map of how the world really is. It helps shift the perspective from 'us' to 'we'.

Back and front pages together pay equal homage to the peoples who communicate primarily with the written word and those who have traditionally used other modes; visual, musical, and oral.

1. Paint each country page a bright color.
2. Tear the map of the world into pieces and glue in scrambled fashion to the page.
3. That's ugly. Cover and hide with lace.
4. Let birds of hope arrive in bright blue and yellow.
5. Add stitches to show the exodus of people who are forced by circumstances to leave their homes.
6. Vibrant colors tell the whole story of beauty and vitality of the human spirit.
